Our first coach of the 2019 NYDL FC All Star team is someone that brings a lot of memories from the Dutch Total Football rebellion in the 70’s with Johan Cruyff and Rinus Michels: John Rep. John played in both the World Cup finals in Argentina (’74) and Germany (’78) for the Dutch National team. He played 428 professional games and scored 150 goals! He played for Feyenoord, Ajax (NL), Bastia, St Etienne (FR) and Valencia (SP). He has 42 caps for the Dutch National team and scored 12 goals. He won the World Cup for clubs 1x with Ajax, the
Champions League 2x, the UEFA Super Cup 2x, the Dutch Championship 2x, the Dutch Cup 3x and the French Championship 1x. It’s certainly amazing after Wim Rijsbergen (coach in 2017) and Gerard van der Lem (coach in 2018) to have another coach that brings so much history and success.
