Sander Westerveld spent the majority of his youth career at FC Twente, where he made his debut fort he first team in the 1994-1995 season. After one year he went to Vitesse, where he played 101 games in 4 years before signing with Liverpool, where he played 75 games in 2 years, also making his debut for the Dutch National team vs Brazil. He was also part of the Dutch squad for EURO 2000, in which he played one game (vs France). In 2001 he signed with Spanish club Real Sociedad, where he played 4 years playing 77 games. He went back to England to play for Portsmouth and Everton before returning to Spain to play for Almeria. His last few years of his career he played for Sparta Rotterdam, Moza (Italy) and Ajax Cape Town (South Africa). Westerveld played 440 professional games and 6 games for the Dutch National Team before retiring in 2013. With Liverpool, Westerveld won the League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Cup, Charity Shield and European Super Cup.
